📸 Receipt Scanning
Why did the AI miss some items on my receipt?
AI scanning works best with clear, well-lit photos where all items are visible. Common issues include: crumpled or blurry receipts, dark or low-contrast text, and handwritten checks. Try retaking the photo in better lighting, or manually add any missed items using the "Add Item" button.
What types of receipts can RAVEN scan?
RAVEN can scan virtually any printed receipt — restaurants, grocery stores, retail, Airbnb/hotel folios, bar tabs, event tickets, and more. Handwritten checks and low-quality photos may have reduced accuracy. You can always edit the scanned result before sending.
Is my receipt photo stored on your servers?
Receipt images are sent to our AI (Claude by Anthropic) for processing, then the extracted data is stored on your bill. We do not retain raw receipt images in our database long-term. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Can I scan receipts without an account?
Receipt scanning requires a RAVEN account (free). However, your group members can view bills and mark themselves as paid via a shared link — no account required for participants.
🧾 Bills & Splitting
How do I split a bill evenly vs. by item?
When creating a bill, choose Split Evenly to divide the total equally, or Itemized to let each person pick what they ordered. With itemized splits, tax and tip are distributed proportionally based on each person's subtotal.
My friend can't access the bill link — what do they do?
Bill links are publicly accessible — no account needed. If they're having trouble, try:
  • Making sure they're using the full link (check it wasn't truncated in your message)
  • Having them try a different browser (Chrome or Safari work best)
  • Resending the link from your dashboard → Bills → Share
Can I edit a bill after it's been shared?
Yes — bill creators can edit item names and amounts, add or remove people, and mark payments. Changes appear live for anyone with the link. Note: if someone has already selected items, editing may affect their total.
How do reminders work?
From your dashboard, tap the 🔔 Remind button on any active bill. RAVEN sends a reminder to all unpaid participants — they'll get the bill link again so they can pay. Reminders are sent as SMS (if a phone is on file) or otherwise shared via the web.
✈️ Trip Hubs
What's the difference between a Bill and a Trip Hub?
A Bill is for a single receipt — one dinner, one Airbnb night, one shared Uber. A Trip Hub is for an entire group trip — it holds multiple receipts and shows each person's running total across all of them. Think of the hub as a folder of bills for one trip.
How do I invite someone new to join my Trip Hub?
Open the trip page and tap 📨 Invite. You'll see two links:
  • Trip Link — for people already added to the trip (no account needed to view)
  • Invite Link — for new people who need to create a RAVEN account to join and add receipts
Copy the Invite Link and paste it directly into your group chat.
Can I add a trip date and see a countdown?
Yes! On the trip hub page, tap ⚙️ Settings and enter your trip date. Once saved, the page will show a live countdown — "47 days to go" — right at the top of the trip hub.
Can multiple people add receipts to the same trip?
Yes — anyone with the trip link can add receipts and leave comments. The running totals update automatically for everyone. If you want someone to have a RAVEN account so they can also manage the trip, use the Invite Link to get them signed up.
👤 Account & Settings
How do I set up my payment methods?
Go to Dashboard → Settings → Payment Methods. Add your Venmo username, Cash App $cashtag, Zelle email/phone, or Apple Pay name. When someone views a bill you created, they'll see these options with direct links to pay you.
How do I change my profile picture?
Go to Dashboard → Settings. Tap the avatar or "📷 Change Photo" button. Your photo is cropped to a square and saved to your profile — it appears in bill comments and as your dashboard avatar.
How do I delete my account?
Email us at hello@ravensplit.com or text +1 (516) 234-7187 with your account email. We'll permanently delete your account and all associated data within 14 days.
I forgot my password — how do I reset it?
On the login screen at https://ravensplit.com/dashboard.html, click "Forgot password?" and enter your email. You'll receive a reset link within a few minutes. If you don't see it, check your spam folder or contact us.
